(2) Is the education system in schools based on English medium only ?
All Government schools are English-based while private /fee paying schools follow either the English or the French model.
 
(3) What documents need to be submitted by foreign students to undertake tertiary education ?
  • Application form to enter Mauritius duly filled in and signed by the applicant.
  • Two recent passport size photographs of the applicant.
  • Photocopy of the data pages of passport of the applicant.
  • Evidence of admission in an educational or training institutions approved by Government
  • Details on the course to be followed.
  • Evidence of funds to meet costs of training/course and accommodation in Mauritius.
  • Evidence from the foreign educational or training establishment to the effect that the training/short course to be followed in Mauritius forms part of a course of study being followed by the applicant, where applicable.
  • An undertaking by applicant to the effect that he/she will not engage in any financial / gainful activities in Mauritius during and after the training / course.
  • In case of a minor, a letter of consent from the responsible parties/guardian.
(4) Where to get information for setting up a training centre in Mauritius ?
Information to open a training centre in Mauritius can be obtained from the website of the Mauritius Qualifications Authority
 
(5) Where can I find information on Mauritian Taxation ?
Information on taxation in Mauritius is available on the Mauritius Revenue Authority (MRA) website.
 
(6) Who are the members of the Mauritian Government ?
The Prime Minister's Office website has a page which gives a full list of the current Ministers in the Government.
 
(7) What is the political system in Mauritius ?
The Republic of Mauritius is a parliamentary democracy modelled on the British system. The separation of powers among the three branches of the Government, namely the Legislative, the Executive and the Judiciary, is embedded in the Constitution. The President is the Head of State while the Prime Minister has full executive power and is the Head of Government.
